Epoxy resin is a kind of versatile polymer. It is widely used in various industries for stability under harsh chemical environment and flexibility. In this study, the effects of various inorganic fillers on the durability of water-soluble epoxy resin coatings were investigated. Different types of fillers including nano-alumina, talc, and calcium oxide, were incorporated into the coatings at concentrations ranging from 5% to 10%. The aim was to evaluate their impact on key properties such as hardness, elastic modulus, and barrier performance. The study also explored the role of ethanol as a solvent. Experimental results indicated that nano-alumina significantly enhanced the coating's hardness and elastic modulus, while calcium oxide had a detrimental effect on barrier properties due to micropore formation. The findings demonstrate that the choice of filler type and concentration is critical for optimizing coating performance. The research provides valuable insights into designing epoxy coatings tailored to specific mechanical and environmental requirements. Furthermore, it highlights the potential for future research into nanomaterial fillers and the importance of considering the interaction between fillers and the resin matrix.
